Is affiliate marketing a sustainable long term business model?

Affiliate marketing is basically promoting other people products for the sake of making a cut in the commission.  The model is made famous by Amazon.com which has a sophiscated affiliate program internet today - probably one of the most extensive affiliate programs you can find on the internet.

So will affiliate marketing going to make you rich?

Establishing your own products is the ultimate goal, should you consider making it big online for the long term. You may earn a living for being an affiliate marketing.  However, you need to brand yourself to make it big or even make other recognise your existence online. There is no way around it.

Without your own brand, you can't get too far, as no one knows your unique preselling proposition.

I have been reading Ewen Chia's material for some time now.  He is acclaimed as the "World Number 1's affiliate".  In fact, his marketing techniques are pretty good, although some marketers don't think Ewen has a good marketing ethnics.

Side story:

Ewen's recommended some marketer product's salespage.  However, he urged his readers on his opt-in list not to buy that marketer's product.  That act alone p*ssed off a few affiliate marketers.

Well, ... there is always two sides to any story. I am not here to judge who's right and who's wrong.

There are other tools that I use personally to help me boost my affiliate income. However, some of the tools have rather steep learning curve and I don't intend to overload you with unncessary information.

All in all, affiliate marketing is not hard, but it does take discipline in order to make big affiliate commissions, just like anything in life that is worth pursuing for.
